he Soapbox is Mulberry Digital's news magazine, meant as an informal forum for discussing trends and emerging technologies in the web industry, explaining tips and techniques for designing and building sites, and whatever else crosses our minds. Use the left navigation menu to read all the topics.

So how did we come up with the name Mulberry Digital?

Mulberry is a plant, and it's also a famous street in Little Italy, New York.
Silk worms feed on mulberry leaves. The worm spins its cocoon of a single, continuous thread of silk over a mile long. To transform cocoons into cloth, workers boil them to release the sticky sericin on the outside. Learn more details about silk production.

Mulberry Street was the center of the Italian immigrant community in the early 20th century. Look at some old photos of Mulberry Street Market. Now the area is a major tourist attraction with fine restaurants and gift shops lining the street.

Mulberry Digital's office is not located on Mulberry Street. But we work as industriously as the immigrants and produce magical results like the silk worm.
